Re-download podcasts without subscribing again

For some unknown reason, I lost a few episodes of a podcast, so iTunes showed them with an exclamation mark and no obvious way to re-download them.

Speed up save and open dialog boxes

I was having to wait up to a minute every time I saved a file in an application when using Tiger. I looked high and low for a reason, and finally discovered that having my iDisk sync set to Automatic was the problem.

A possible fix for unplayable Windows Media files
The fabulous video program VLC plays most of the video files that I come across. One exception is some, but not all, Windows Media files (with a .wmv-suffix). So, I go to the not-so-fabulous Windows Media Player 9, which also...

A possible way to save a corrupted drive or partition

An unhappy event happened to a cheese-maker friend -- he hadn't made any back-ups of his old G3 tower, and naturally the hard disk went down along with all the recipes of his award-winning cheeses.
